Art Exhibition Fundraising Event
A huge thank you to artists Maria Dunn, Rama Arun and Silvana Washbourne for hosting the Healing Through Colour fundraising art exhibition in support of Breast Cancer Research Centre WA.
The exhibition brought together local artists, supporters and the community for an afternoon of art, with proceeds from artwork sales, raffle prizes and the silent auction raising an incredible $8,126.81 to support breast cancer research and free support services across Western Australia. Held 20th June 2026 at Freshwater Bay Yacht Club.
A Little About the Artists
The artwork is created by a trio of women, who after facing cancer diagnoses, found healing and creativity through a physiotherapy and art class program. This initiative has not only fostered our artistic skills and improvement in our fitness but also built lasting friendships.

Title – Where the Land Folds Artist

Artist Notes: Painted on an intensely hot afternoon, I challenged myself to work under the constraint of just three colors. As the layers unfolded, I felt as though I was carving a hidden path through the deep, cooling rhythms of the ocean.

Artist Note – Captures my attraction to colour , with the strong brush strokes giving a sense of urgency to the piece. This reminds me of hurrying to the coast of an evening to watch a sunset before it disappears below the horizon .
Title – The Unseen
Artist Name – Rama Arun. Acrylic on Canvas Year-2023

Artist Notes: A fascinating exercise in blind intuition. I was asked to look entirely away from the canvas, drawing only from the shapes of objects placed in front of me, tracing my way back to a singular starting point. Afterward, I translated those raw spaces using a specific, assigned color palette.

Artist Note – This was my very first painting, and I truly poured my heart into it. It was born during the quiet of winter, inspired by those comforting moments spent sitting with a warm cup of tea and looking out of my window. I wanted the canvas to radiate calm, warmth, and the gentle feeling of a smile.

Artist Note – As my first art work, I throughly enjoyed how this piece evolved over many weeks. From the simple to the detailed. The foreground highlights my connection with bright colours and the positive energy they emit whilst the soft curves of the petals in the background provide balance with their calming and soothing effect.

Artist Notes: This began as a sunset study that I felt quite stuck with. Sensing my hesitation, my mentor challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and overlay the entire piece with bold, rhythmic dots. Taking that leap taught me to be courageous with my marks, and I love the rich, hidden layers that now peek through the backdrop

Artist Notes: This piece was inspired by a slightly withered rose. I noticed how, even as its petals began to separate and unravel, it still held an undeniable grace and beauty. Creating this taught me to look closer and find deep comfort in life’s imperfections.

Artist Notes: I set out with a strict plan to use only red and yellow against a deep Payne’s grey backdrop. However, as the brush moved, the canvas demanded more, and I kept introducing new colors. The final result feels wonderfully, beautifully, chaotic to me
