About Us

Are you a registered charity?

Absolutely! We were established in 2008 and are registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC). BCRC-WA are also registered on the Australian Business Register with charity tax concession status (CTC) and deductible gift recipient status (DGR).

Where does my donation go?

We are a not-for-profit, registered charitable organisation where donations go directly to our world-class research, support and education programs and the provision of services benefiting our patients and their families.

Are you also a private health care provider?

Yes, we provide services to our patients under our care at the Perth Breast Cancer Institute.

Do you work with other health care providers?

Yes, we have a strong working relationship with Perth Radiological Clinic and Genesis Care, both located downstairs at Hollywood Consulting Centre. We also work with Allied Health and Ramsay Health Plus.

Do you provide education on breast cancer to health care providers and the community?

Yes, we are passionate about education! We hold public events for General Practitioners and the greater community every year.

Donations

How do I donate?

You can donate on our website using the donate button and your credit card or PayPal account. You can also present in person at our office, Hollywood Consulting Centre, Suite 407, Level 4, 91 Monash Avenue, Nedlands 6009. You can also donate by direct deposit to Breast Cancer Research Centre-WA (NAB) BSB: 086-006 Acct No: 737986097

Can I make a regular monthly donation?

Yes, this can be selected as an option on our website donate page. Make a monthly donation by specifying the amount to be deducted from your credit card or PayPal account. We will process deductions on or after the 11th day every month.

How do I cancel my regular monthly donation?

You can cancel your monthly donation at any time. Just give us a call on 08 6500 5501 or email our team at fundraising@bcrc-wa.com.au

I didn't receive a tax-deductible donation receipt; how do I request a receipt?

All donations made on our website will receive an automatically generated tax-deductible receipt. If you have not received yours, please check your junk mail. If you cannot locate your receipt, please call us on 08 6500 5501 or email our team at fundraising@bcrc-wa.com.au.

How do I leave a gift in my Will to BCRC-WA?

It is easy to leave a gift in your Will to support the work of BCRC-WA for future years. We encourage you to seek legal advice to ensure that your Will is valid and will achieve everything you wish. We suggest that you seek advice from a lawyer who specialises in Wills and Estates if you do not already have a legal adviser. First, it is important to consider your family and special friends and inform them if you decide to leave a gift (bequest) to the BCRC-WA. Our Gifts in Wills adviser, Sarina Menzies, will be only too happy to help and can be contacted on (08) 6500 5501 or fundraising@bcrc-wa.com.au

Do we phone, door knock or request donations at shopping centres?

No, we do not solicit donations at public venues or via phone or door knock appeals. If you have donated these methods, this would have been to a different charity unrelated to our organisation.

Fundraising

How do I fundraise for BCRC-WA?

Fundraising can be a great way to get your community involved in raising awareness for breast cancer research. You can support BCRC-WA’s life-changing work by holding your fundraiser or charity event. Get Started.

Does Facebook fundraising go directly to you?

Facebook fundraising is a valuable and easy way to connect with your network on social media. BCRC-WA accept donations received through Facebook via the PayPal Giving Fund Australia. Receipts are issued by PayPal Giving Fund Australia because they are collecting and distributing these donations. The deposited total funds come into our PayPal account occur no fees. Facebook does not supply Charities with your contact details, so we have no way of thanking you for your generous donation. Let us know if you have created a Facebook fundraiser.

Can Professor Arlene Chan talk or make an appearance at my event?

Professor Arlene Chan AM would love to come and talk at the events held for BCRC-WA; however, this is not possible as she is running a busy clinic treating her patients. Our CEO, along with other staff, may be available to attend and talk at some events. Partnerships & Community

Can you supply information pamphlets at our workplace, community or clinic?

Yes, we have produced high-quality information pamphlets on breast health that are available. For more information on how to access our resources, please email info@bcrc-wa.com.au

Do you work with other charities?

Often! We have worked on projects that benefit patients, for example, Look Good Feel Better and CANTEEN.

Does BCRC-WA have merchandise I can sell?

We currently do not have merchandise for sale. However, we have promotional items that we can provide if you are organising a fundraiser. Call on 08 6500 5501 or email our team at fundraising@bcrc-wa.com.au.

If I have concerns about content or comments on the BCRC-WA social media page, can I contact BCRC-WA?

We take great care and actively monitor our social media content. However, if you believe that any content (comments or engagement) may be inappropriate, please call us on 08 6500 5501.

Can I use your logo?

Yes, with permission. We take great pride in our branding and ask that you request permission from our media department at media@bcrc-wa.com.au

Breast Cancer Services

Does BCRC-WA conduct clinical trials intro breast cancer?

Absolutely! BCRC-WA conducts research into breast cancer treatment and care. Our research informs and underpins the treatment we provide to our patients.

How can I access the PBCI Breast Clinic?

The Perth Breast Cancer Institute (PBCI) Breast Clinic ensures the same team can see patients in the same location from the beginning of their breast cancer journey. With Perth Radiological Clinic now on-site at the Hollywood Consulting Centre, patients will undergo breast imaging and see a breast physician on the same day. Our Breast Clinic accepts GP and self-referral.

Where can I access good information regarding breast cancer?

If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, our Resource page is an excellent place to start. You can also find information on breast cancer at Cancer Australia and Breast Cancer Network Australia.

How do I contact a breast cancer nurse?

At BCRC-WA, we have an Early Breast Care Nurse and an Advanced Breast Care Nurse for patients under the care of the Perth Breast Cancer Institute. If you would like more information about how to access breast care nurse services, contact our team on 08 6500 5501.

What support is available for patients with metastatic breast cancer?

In addition to our Advanced Breast Care Nurse, BCRC-WA also runs PYNKS, a support group for women and men diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer who are under the care of the PBCI.

Do you offer clinical psychology services? Can my family and children access these services also?

Yes, we offer different support options for families and children impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis. We provide a bulk-billed clinical psychology service to support people with breast cancer and their families. Our Clinical Psychologists collaborate with you and your PBCI specialists to assist you in managing the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis.

I am interested in accessing genetic counselling, where do I start?

Genetic testing and counselling is now available at the PBCI. You can obtain more information about how to access this service by visiting our Genetic Counselling webpage or by contacting the rooms of Genetic Counselling (08) 6500 5576 or email reception@bcrc-wa.com.au.
