BCRC-WA conducts research into breast cancer treatment and care that underpins the treatment we provide to our patients.
In 2017 Carmelo Arto, CEO of BCRC-WA, was interviewed by ABC radio Adelaide. In the interview, Carmelo explains what BCRC-WA does and specifically how our trials work and how patients with breast cancer can access these trials. In the second part of the interview, Alex speaks to Narelle Helsemans, a former patient of Professor Arlene Chan who had metastatic breast cancer. Narelle talks about the impact her breast cancer diagnosis has on her husband and her children.
Sadly, Narelle lost her battle with breast cancer in 2017, however her legacy lives on and her wish to change the quality of life of the families and loved ones of breast cancer patients will become a reality when BCRC-WA opens its long awaited breast cancer centre in 2020.
