Ruthy’s Greatest Shave

Ruthy’s Greatest Shave

In 2018, Ruthy received news that would forever change her life. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, Ruthy’s response to this life-altering diagnosis was nothing short of inspiring. She decided to transform her personal battle into an opportunity to make a significant impact in the fight against breast cancer by organizing “Ruthy’s Greatest Shave.”

Facing a double mastectomy and the arduous journey of chemotherapy, Ruthy made a bold and selfless decision. Before her treatment began, she resolved to shave her hair, a symbol of her resilience, courage, and determination to conquer this disease. But she didn’t stop there. Ruthy recognized the power of her act and saw it as a means to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Centre – WA.

What made Ruthy’s initiative even more remarkable was the support she garnered from her loved ones and colleagues. Her husband, Glen, stood by her side, ready to demonstrate his unwavering support in the most tangible way possible. Ruthy’s brother, Roberto, stepped up to show that family bonds are unbreakable even in the face of adversity. Meeksy, a devoted work colleague, and Veronica, her childhood best friend, joined this extraordinary journey, further amplifying the impact of Ruthy’s endeavor.

Together, this incredible team of supporters embarked on the journey of shaving their heads, turning an emotional and physical challenge into a powerful fundraising campaign. Their commitment to Ruthy’s cause was a testament to the strength of their relationships and their shared belief in the importance of breast cancer research.

The results of Ruthy’s Greatest Shave exceeded all expectations. Initially setting a target of $2,000, Ruthy and her team raised a staggering $4,662. This remarkable achievement not only highlighted the generosity of their supporters but also showcased the determination and resilience of those directly affected by breast cancer.
