Dedicated to breast cancer research, free support services, and education programs for patients and families.
This past year has been nothing short of remarkable. We’ve had the privilege of supporting over 2,000 patients from across Western Australia. Some have traveled hundreds of kilometers, flying in from Esperance and Kalgoorlie, just to attend appointments and access the care they need and deserve.
This year, our patient community is as diverse as it is inspiring, ranging in age from 18 to 106. While the majority of our visitors are women, we’ve also had the honour of supporting men on their breast cancer journeys.
Every person who walks through our doors brings a story of strength, resilience, and hope.
Philanthropically-Funded Support
These evidence-based support services are provided at no cost to our patients, made possible entirely through generous donations and philanthropic fundraising.
We’re proud to keep our overhead low; just 1.2% goes to operating costs, well below the national charity average of 15–25%. This means more of your donation directly supports our patients and their families.
Specialised Breast Care Nurse
Our Metastatic and Early Breast Care nurses play a vital role in guiding patients and their families through every stage of the breast cancer journey, offering expert care coordination and essential information, assisting patients and their families every step of their breast cancer experience. From wound management to assistance with seromas to education about chemotherapy, our Breast Care Nurses (BCNs) are a point of contact between patients and their care team.
Our BCNs go above and beyond to provide personalised care, responding to patient calls, advising on side effects and arranging direct admissions to the ward if needed. We are incredibly proud of our specialised breast care nurses program.
Clinical Psychology
We understand that a breast cancer diagnosis not only affects the individual but also their loved ones. We believe emotional support is vital to comprehensive breast cancer care. To address this need, we proud to offer a bulk-billed clinical psychology service dedicated to supporting those impacted by breast cancer. Our Clinical Psychologists, specialised in breast cancer care, are committed to working closely with your medical team to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to managing the emotional impact of breast cancer and other related stressors.
Support and Education Programs
PYNKS Metastatic Womens Support Group
Metastatic breast cancer, also known as secondary or advanced breast cancer, is when cancer has spread from the breast to other parts of the body. Our metastatic patients can choose to meet monthly at Kings Park over coffee, attend educational workshops and fun activities like laughing yoga, candle making and many more.
With the facilitation of the Metastatic Breast Care Nurse, the group fosters emotional well-being, social connections, and a sense of camaraderie and resilience among those facing the unique challenges of metastatic diagnosis and treatment.
Research
Our clinical trials continue to drive the development of next-generation cancer treatments, ensuring our patients have access to the most advanced and effective therapies available.
Advancing Breast Cancer Treatment
Since 2009, when the Breast Cancer Trials Unit (BCTU) was integrated into BCRC-WA, we’ve been committed to advancing breast cancer research through clinical trials, pioneering treatments, and delivering cutting-edge therapies that offer real hope to patients. Now, as we move toward 2025, our journey reflects just how far we’ve come, growing in impact, innovation, and unwavering dedication to those we serve.
