HBF Run for a Reason with Emma
Emma embarked on her cancer journey in January 2021, receiving treatment and undergoing surgery under the care of specialists at the Breast Cancer Research Centre – WA.
Following her diagnosis, she became a member of a local running club, immersing herself in long-distance running and triathlon competitions. Her ultimate aspiration was to conquer the challenge of a half marathon, spanning 21.1 kilometers.
Her determination led her to take part in the HBF Run for a Reason, using the event as an opportunity to raise support for BCRC-WA. Initiating the ‘Hollywood Physio’ team, she rallied her colleagues from Hollywood Hospital, who enthusiastically joined her in standing by her side and running in solidarity on the designated day.
The outcome of the fundraising endeavor exceeded expectations, amassing an impressive $12,643 for BCRC-WA. The remarkable dedication and contribution of Emma and her team serve as an immense source of inspiration, leaving us profoundly grateful.
I participated to support fundraising for a cause I was now invested in. What I did not expect, was how much I enjoyed the sense of achievement in pushing my body, proving I had control and knowing that the cancer had not compromised it... This run represented my breast cancer journey. It is tough, but you will eventually get through to the finish line with persistence and determination.
