Laughter Yoga

Members of the PYNKS are invited to join a Laughter Yoga session led by Janet Whitfield from Abundant Laughter. We encourage everyone to arrive at 8:45am on Tuesday, 12 March 2024 for a 9:00am start on the grass just behind Zamia Cafe in Kings Park. The session will take place right before the PYNKS in the Park on the same day.
About Laughter Yoga
Laughter Yoga is a group activity led by a trained facilitator to engage the audience in playful laughter exercises and deep breathing techniques from yoga. Initially, the laughter is simulated or acted out with gentle physical movements and hand-clapping rhythms. With the addition of smiling and eye contact between group members, the laughter quickly becomes genuine and contagious creating an uplifting energy in the room (or in this case, the park!). Laughter Yoga is a holistic health and wellbeing activity providing physical, mental, emotional and social benefits:
- Reduces stress and relieves anxiety
- Provides aerobic exercise, increasing oxygen supply to the brain and blood circulation around the body
- Releases the happy hormones of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins which helps us feel better
- Boosts our immune system and reduces pain
- Reduces blood pressure and cholesterol levels
- Enhances relationships and social connections
- Builds resilience so we cope better with life’s challenges
