Paddle for a Purpose 2025

PADDLE FOR A Purpose

Hosted by Fremantle SLSC, Leighton Beach

The second annual Paddle for a Purpose, hosted by Fremantle Surf Life Saving Club, took place at Leighton Beach on 22 November. The water was calm and the sky was slightly overcast, but the conditions did not take away from the atmosphere or the significance of the morning.

This year the event raised a record total of 10,483 dollars for BCRC WA. This outstanding result was achieved in support of Fremantle SLSC member and BCRC WA ambassador Tanita. Tanita and her family were especially excited after spotting themselves in the spring newsletter and felt uplifted by the ongoing support from the community.

Once the Fremantle SLSC safety briefing was complete, participants gathered on the sand before paddling out together and forming a circle in the water. Luke, Tanita’s husband, spoke briefly about what this moment means to their family and to the community.

This was followed by a minute of silence, with everyone joining hands. Afterwards there was a collective splash, a wave to the drone, and a few gentle waves back to shore with children riding along.

The raffle table added great energy to the event, with generous contributions from supporters helping to lift the total funds raised. Several Paddle for a Purpose custom rash shirts were also purchased, with all proceeds directed to BCRC WA.

Thank you to all returning participants, new paddlers, Fremantle SLSC volunteers, and supporters who made the event a success. We look forward to seeing Paddle for a Purpose grow again next year.
