We are a clinician-led organisation where patient education and support services are initiated by the very people who treat breast cancer patients every day.
Your donation will help us enhance breast cancer treatment and care, and increase survival rates.
We began in 2009 with a vision to provide high quality care while conducting research that would deliver the most advanced treatments and save lives.
BCRC-WA conducts research into breast cancer treatment and care that underpins the treatment we provide to our patients.
Our new breast cancer centre will have on-site medical oncologists, breast surgeons, radiation oncologists, reconstructive surgeons, Breast Clinical Trials Unit, clinical psychologists, early and advanced breast care nurses, radiologists, geneticist and breast physicians.
The location of all these services in one building will greatly benefit patients and their loved ones by reducing travel times and the associated stress that can be caused by having to manage multiple appointments. More importantly, the different treatments needed for individual patients will be personalised and patients will be guided through the phases of their care.
Our Centre will be situated in Hollywood Private Hospital’s new consulting centre.
Our Breast Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) is Australia’s busiest breast cancer trials units in Australia, currently conducting more than 30 clinical trials. 1200+ patients have been involved in over 100 trials since BCRC-WA was established in 2009. At least 17 trials have improved the way breast cancer is treated internationally.
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer amongst women in Australian. It is estimated by Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) in 2020 an estimated 20,168 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Advances in research, treatment and care, as well as improvements in the detection of breast cancer means that Australia has one of the best breast cancer survival rates in the world, however there remains much work still to do in the world of breast cancer.
