Peter Willsher

MBBS, DM, FRACS, FACS

Dr Peter Willsher is a Surgeon specialising in the management of breast diseases. He graduated from the University of Melbourne medical school and completed surgical training in Melbourne. Subsequent to that he worked in the Nottingham City Hospital Breast Centre as a Clinical and Research Fellow. During that time he completed a Doctorate of Medicine; undertaking a research project and thesis on biological changes in breast cancer. Following this, Peter worked in the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, completing a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery.

In 2000 he received an award from the American College of Surgeons as the International Guest Scholar. Peter is on the Executive Council of The Breast Surgeons Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is an accredited site visitor for quality assurance with Breastscreen Australia. He has published approximately 100 Abstracts and Papers, including two book chapters. He is a Fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He is Chair of Breast Cancer Research Centre-WA and his practice is at Hollywood Private Hospital.

Professor Arlene Chan

MB BS, FRACP, MMed (Palliative Care)

In June 2016, Professor Arlene Chan was awarded winner of the "Professions Division" of the "Western Australian of the Year Awards". This prestigious award recognises her expertise in her field of breast cancer.
Professor Chan graduated from the medical school of University of Melbourne, Australia. She obtained her Fellowship in Medical Oncology from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a Masters of Medicine in Palliative Care from the University of Melbourne in 1993.

She received a fellowship in breast cancer/cancer genetics from Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto and in 1997 returned to Australia as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Royal Perth Hospital until 2002. She has been a breast cancer-specific oncologist at the Mount Hospital since 1999. She is an adjunct professor at the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute, Curtin University, the Director of the Breast Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) at Hollywood Private Hospital and is Vice-Chair of Breast Cancer Research Centre-WA.
She serves on the academic steering committee of several breast cancer trials and sits on the national and international advisory board for several pharmaceutical companies dealing with breast cancer treatments.
She has authored more than 100 publications and her interests include clinical research in understanding biological determinants of therapeutic response, optimizing symptomatic care in early and advanced breast cancer and developing data collection systems for clinical research and measuring patient outcomes.

James Robert (Jim) Giumelli

BEng FIEAust

The founder of Ertech and now Chairman of Ertech Holdings, Jim holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and is a Fellow Chartered Professional Engineer of Engineers Australia. He has over 45 years’ experience in the construction industry.

Jim has led the successful development, diversification and financial performance of the Ertech Group of Companies since inception in 1981. He is a current director of Ertech Holdings, Ertech Geomarine, Ertech Electrical, FormAction Concrete Civils and Duratec Australia.

In 2008, responding to the shortage of skilled labour in the construction industry, Jim founded the Ertech Construction Academy which is an innovative training institution that aims to provide young people with a pathway into the civil construction industry.

Jim was the winner of the Western Region Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 in the Services Category and the Western Region Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 in the Financial, Business and Property category.

His personal motto of “willingness to learn and willingness to have a go” reflects a preparedness to take calculated decisions/risks.

Carmelo Arto (CEO)

Carmelo Arto commenced life as a medical scientist and has over 20 years’ experience in health service leadership. He has held a number of board roles and consulted to some of Australia’s best corporate leaders. Carmelo maintains an extensive corporate network. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, corporate governance, risk management as well as health service excellence and innovation in both public and private sectors.

Carmelo is a graduate BSc (Medical Sciences) from Curtin University as well as having attained a MBA from University of Western Australia where he was a University Prize Winner. He was President of the UWA MBA Students Association as well as the Alumni Association.

Carmelo has always maintained a passion for clinically driven medical research and is honoured to work with the team at BCRC-WA.

David Carter

BJuris, LLB

David has over 35 years legal experience in the areas of general insurance, product liability, transport and marine litigation. He has been a partner and now Senior Consultant at Perth’s largest independent law firm.

His practice is divided between the defence of product liability and public liability cases on the one hand and transport and marine related claims on the other.

He acts for insurers, employers and manufacturers in defence of product liability claims.

David’s transport and marine practice is predominantly based on acting for insurers of road, air and sea carriers.
His experience in these areas includes recovery and defending property and personal injury claims for all forms of transport.

Debbie Bajrovic

B.Pharm, MSHP

Debbie Bajrovic is an Oncology Pharmacist with a special interest in breast cancer. Debbie graduated from The Western Australian Institute of Technology School of Pharmacy, Perth, Western Australia. She is a pharmacist with 30 years experience primarily as a hospital pharmacist in both the public and private sector. She has practiced in Western Australia and the United Kingdom.

Debbie has extensive experience in the cytotoxic compounding of chemotherapy and the preparation of biologics. She has practiced for fourteen years in clinical oncology pharmacy working principally with breast cancer patients developing a sound knowledge expertise in this field.

Debbie held the position of chair of the Oncology Nursing and Pharmacy Interest Group from 2009 to 2013. She has presented to professional colleagues both locally and nationally and is an active member of several national and international professional organisations.

Colin Triscari

BBus (ECU), CPA

Colin has over 40 years’ experience in finance with predominant roles as CFO and as company secretary, working in diverse industry sectors in private and public enterprise.

He has extensive experience in strategic planning, corporate governance, risk management, costing, budgeting forecasting and IT systems together with expertise in company secretarial practices.

Colin holds a Bachelor of Business Degree and has also undertaken studies in Postgraduate Diploma, Information Systems and Graduate Diploma, Company Secretarial Practices.
